Sadism | Pre-Production

Hello.

Pre-production is the first step in making an animation. It is the process of where the idea is gathered for the animation. Then, the ideas are enhanced by sketching them into thumbnails so that it appear visually. This allows the viewers to understand what is happening throughout the story.

Before going to the next step, I've to get approval from my project coordinator, Mr. Fauzi Naeim Mohamed or we call him Mr.M. During this stage, I have made a lot of brainstorm to get a good storyline. I’ve been rejected for so many times by my coordinator, Mr.M because of uninteresting and cliché storyline. After my thumbnails been approved, *at lasttt, alhamdulillah rasa nak nangiss* then, I’ve made some researches about staging and composition so that I could produce a good storyboard. 

Next, I did a lot of rough sketches to get the best character design for this 3D short animation project. After that, I started doing a fully colored storyboard (as required by Mr.M). Below is my demo reel that I presented to Mr.M at the end of my sixth semester.

'not so demo reel' I guess, sbb tak lengkap pun. Tak cukup requirement macam yang Mr.M mintak. I've tried my best nak complete kan semua yang Mr.M mintak tapi tak cukup masa. I'm sorry Sir. My bad.



The following video is my second demo reel. Sebab saya rasa demo reel yang first ni kosong sangat and not enough. So, I made the second one. *yang lebih complete kononnya* hehe But I think my second demo reel is more likely similar to animatic storyboard. So, here we go, enjoy! :)

Sadism | Introduction

Hello and assalamualaikum. 

Currently I'm working on a project which is my final project for my bachelor. I'm going to develop a short 3D animation entitled Sadism. The duration of this animation will be projected around 3 minutes 10 seconds. Basically, Sadism is a story about a robot named V_0.1, which is the main character of this story. It is an old model robot, living in a modern world. V_0.1 is not accepted by mankind. Until one day, he was killed by a mysterious girl. This story actually tells us of how cruel mankind can really be and no one can be trusted nowadays. 

In this 3D animation project, I will be focused on the modelling part. As I know, modelling is the basic and crucial aspect in a 3D animation production workflow, before I can actually proceed to next processes. Good models will make my life easier at the rigging and animation parts later. For this individual project, I will use Paint Tool Sai Software to make sketches and storyboard. Next, I will use Autodesk 3DS Max 2015 for modelling and animation parts, Adobe Photoshop CS6 for coloring and texturing. Lastly, I will be using Adobe After Effect CS6 to compose and edit the entire finished scenes into a full length short animation film. InsyaAllah.
